At Vitendo4Africa (V4A), mentorship is about more than giving advice—it is about showing up consistently for our young people. Through caring mentors, youth gain encouragement, guidance, confidence, and connections that help them navigate school, college, careers, and life. We believe every young person deserves someone who sees their potential, believes in their future, and walks alongside them.

Youth Leadership Empowerment

Vitendo4Africa’s Youth Leadership Program equips young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to become community leaders. Through partnerships with organizations such as SLIP, FOCUS St. Louis, and other local partners, youth participate in leadership training, mentorship, civic engagement, and service projects that prepare them to lead and make a positive impact.

It Takes a Village: Youth Learning from Our Elders

At Vitendo4Africa, we believe wisdom connects generations. Our elders carry stories, traditions, values, and life lessons that can guide today’s youth.

This program brings youth and immigrant seniors together to share experiences, preserve culture, and build stronger connections across generations.

College Visits and Educational Field Trips.

V4A takes multiple college visits throughout the year. If you are interested in visiting a University in St. Louis please sign up. If the college you would like to visit is not listed please contact us. We provide transportation to all visits.

Civc enGagement

Vitendo4Africa empowers immigrant and refugee youth to become active, informed, and engaged members of their community. Through workshops, leadership activities, volunteer opportunities, and partnerships with local organizations, youth learn about civic responsibility, advocacy, and community service.

Our program helps young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and use their voices to make a positive impact in St. Louis. By participating in civic projects and community initiatives, they gain the experience needed to become future leaders and changemakers.

V4A TRACTION-Teens Taking Action To Prevent Traffic Crashes

TRACTION (Teens Taking Action To Prevent Traffic Crashes) is Vitendo4Africa’s youth-led program focused on promoting road safety in the immigrant and refugee community. Through awareness campaigns, educational workshops, and community outreach, teens learn about safe driving practices and the importance of preventing traffic accidents.

The program empowers youth to take leadership roles, develop public speaking and advocacy skills, and create real change in their communities by promoting safer roads for everyone.

1. ACT Prep

Some of the students don’t pay attention to prepare for their ACT exams and as a result, they end up with very low ACT scores. This affects their eligibility for scholarships or failure to qualify for some college causes they may want to take.

2. Mentorship Program

V4A mentorship program equips immigrant and refugee youth with necessary life and social skills to be successful and a positive influence in their home, school, and community.

3. Africa Mission Trip

Through youth leadership program, V4A organizes mission trip to Kenya during summer. The teens takes the initiative to host fundraising events, collect school supplies, backpacks, hospital supplies and other games items.

F4KIDZ PROJECTS

1. Chess Club for kids

Early this month more than ten immigrants kids participated in the chess tournament event at St. Louis University. These kids made a history to be the first chess players to represent the immigrant community.

2. African Dance group

Teaching kids about world cultures helps them appreciate the differences in people and their traditions. Learning about their culture gives them identity and helps to boost their self esteem.

3. Health and Wellness

F4KIDZ promotes positive values, healthy habits, and education through soccer and workouts– resulting in reduced childhood obesity and subsequently reduce diabetes and hypertension in the community

4. Swahili Class

A number of research studies have shown that children who have learned a second language at a young age demonstrate cognitive advantages, such as increased problem-solving skills and creativity.

Vitendo4africa offers a variety of programs to ensure that all youth have the skills and training they need to successfully make the transition to adulthood and careers.

YU2I is a group of young people comprising mainly students from high school and college students. They began by volunteering their time when local community groups had activities going on where volunteers were needed. With the groups rallying call, “How May We(I) Serve You?”, the group has rapidly risen in number and stepped up its activities.

OBJECTIVES;

TEAM BUILDING:

This group of young people is making a difference in their own community in different ways. Scotching under the sun washing cars to raise funds for Health Day/ Crazy Olympics event held on June 9th. 2012. The purpose is to promote diversity and healthy living.
This group coordinated and organized the first historic and very successful Crazy Olympics in St Louis

LEADERSHIP BUILDING

Due to the nature of the work environment in the United States there is little time available for the young people to learn at the feet of the older generation or their parents. This group has taken a bold move by bringing together respected elders in the community for a healthy discussion. This program is designed to connect youth and adults and to provide the older generation an opportunity to pass on their legacy to the next generation.
