Community Service Award

Stephanie is a senior at Lutheran High School North and is actively involved in the Vitendo youth mentorship program. In the last one year, Stephanie has been leading youth activities from community garden, church events and V4A fundraising events. Stephanie is the project manager for Kenya 2021 mission project. Stephanie is in the current cohort of 2020-2021 Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis’ student board of directors’ program, MUextension Youth Empowerment Program. YouthBridge Youth Empowerment program. Stephanie was selected as one of 300 Student Leaders out of over 5,000 applications nationwide for the Bank of America youth Program. Stephanie initiated a tutoring program to assist students with homework assignments, math, and science during the quarantine period.

Rising Star Award

Alvin is a 6th grade student at West Middle School at Hazelwood School District. He is actively involved in the V-Tech programs including coding programs with Microsoft, Bworks, Code combat and other programs.  Many refer him as Mr. Weatherman because of his great talents and skills in reading the weather. He was recently featured on KSDK news and was recognized by NBC Access Hollywood as the youngest meteorologist.

V-Tech Studente Of The Year

Ann is an 8th grade student at Dubray Middle School. She is actively involved in the V-tech program, MUextensions science program, Bworks, Girls who code and Missouri 4-H program. Anne has been helping other students with coding projects in code combat and Ozaria. She has received various awards in school and in the Whitehat coding program.  Additionally, Ann is actively involved in the V4A bike club and African Dance group.  She has received presidential volunteer awards and accumulated over 100 community hours at Magic house.

Arts and Culture Award

Wendy is an 8th grade student at Parkway School District.  She has only been in United States for less than two years, but her presence is being felt in the region. Wendy has showcasing her artistic and cultural skills in school and various community events including the annual V4A dinner.  During the US census, Wendy led a campaign to help reach the Swahili speakers in St Louis. She also recorded a Video in Swahili to educate people about COVID-19. In addition, Wendy is actively involved in the V-tech program, Youth Mentorship program and volunteers to teach Swahili through the V4A Swahili program and during Community special events.

Coummunity Service Award

Eva is an 11th grade student at Hazelwood West High. She is actively involved in V4A mentorship program and a great volunteer at special events and youth programs. Eva teamed up with other high school students to launch a tutoring program for 3rd to 8th grade students.  She also has accumulated many volunteer hours at Kenya’s kid Exhibit at Magic House. Eva is involved in various youth leadership programs including V44 YEP, MUextension Youth Empowerment Program. YouthBridge Youth Empowerment program and FOCUS Youth leadership program.

Bridget is a 10th grade student at Hazelwood West High. She is actively involved in the Vitendo mentorship program and V-Tech program. Bridgette teamed up with other high school students to launch a tutoring program for 3rd to 8th grade students. She is also an active member of 2021 Kenya mission project where the group have spent hundreds of hours hosting fundraising events and family activities.

Sally is a 10th grade student at Hazelwood West High. She is actively involved in the vitendo mentorship program and in youth programs in her church. She also volunteers at the community garden, V4A special events and leading small groups discussion. Sally teamed up with other high school students to provide tutoring services to 3rd to 8th grade students during COVID 19.  She also leads a group of high school students to volunteer at Kenya’s kids Exhibit at Magic house. She is the current operation manager and vice president of Kenya Mission project where the group have spent hundreds of hours hosting fundraising events and family activities.

Super-Speller Award

Jayson is a 5th grade student at Fort Zumwalt School District. He participated in spelling BEE completion and was ranked among the best in his school. Jayson is also actively involved in the V4A New Look Bike Club. Jayson and his younger brother have a YouTube channel where they teach people about bicycles and encourage other kids to adopt outdoor activities through cycling.

Emerging Leaders Award

Christiana is an 8th grade student at McKinley Middle School.  She is actively involved in the Youth empowerment Program. Wendy connects eloquently with everyone she interacts with and always takes leadership roles when opportunities arise. She is always on time for classes and meetings, she is highly organized and professional with her teachers and peers. Christiana is also active in Youth mentorship, Vtech program and the bicycle club.

Mercy has been involved in our V-tech coding program.
