V4A Health Fair event brings together many service providers for a common cause

V4A Health Initiative committee would like to thank  all our sponsors and providers for your participation in our 2017 Health and Safety fair that was held on Saturday January 28th, 2017 in Florissant.

The health fair was planned and implemented in response to the growing health needs among immigrants and low income families in St. Louis.  It was a great success with over 200 attendees and twenty booths of Service providers.    This year event was able to bring together a diverse group African immigrants and refugees from many nationalities.

hfaireThis year event had the greatest number of Immigrant professionals giving back to the community. Dr. Milton Ochieng-Kenya, GI doctor with BJC, Dr. Nhial Tutlam-Sudan Chronic Disease manager at St. Louis County health, Dr. Nosayaba Oazywa-Nigeria, oral head and neck cancer doctor at St. Louis University. Many nurses and students volunteers. They all spent the entire day offering their free professional services to hundreds of immigrants and local residents in North County.  .
Twenty women received free mammogram screening offered by Mercy Hospital mobile unit. More women signed up for mammogram screening next month at St. Louis University Cancer Center. There will also another group of women going for pap smear screening next Saturday at St. Louis University Health Resource Center.

We are excited and look forward for the next event on January 27th, 2018
